"Bibio is a genus of mosquitoes from the black fly family (Bibionidae)" (Wikipedia 2017).
Hahaha.....WHAT?
Bibio is a music producer coming from England that I discovered more than a month ago. I am sorry, but I was (and still am actually) busy finishing the semester. Spotify Discover Weekly sent me the song "A tout à l'heure" which got me joyful instantly. This song makes me feel like a hippie in the Middle Ages attending a folkloric celtic festival, among gipsies and jesters (a new word I just learned from Google Translate).
His music is primarily electronic and experimental in nature. He has been producing music since 2005 and made eight albums ever since. We can say that he is quite productive. The style of each of the albums differs a little bit.
His first three albums, "fi" (2005), "Hand Cranked"(2006) and "Vignetting te Compost"(2009) are somewhat similar. Most of the songs are rather gentle folkloric dreamy electronic music. He uses a lot of repeating of samples, which make this music good for chilling and studying!
"Ambivalence Avenue" (also 2009, I think he had a very productive/creative period) sounds more funky and has more house influences. Here the - what I would call - "classic"electronics are much more obvious. This is also the case for "Mind Bokeh" (2011) and "Silver Wilkinson" (2013), his name is Stephen Wilkinson by the way :). The albums also show his inspiration by Daft Punk.
His second last album "A Mineral Love" (2016) has some different atmosphere as well, that I cannot put in a corner yet. It is different from his other albums.
His previous albums are super chill and nice for relaxing (with some exceptions of more lively songs), but this one is more daring and waaaaay more clubby and "classically" electronic. Some songs would instantly fit in a club in Ibiza. I really like "Beyond my Eyes" and "Fix this thing"and I was actually a bit surprised by this (again) different touch of the album.
